Terms of Service

These terms define how researchers, teams and institutions may access and use the insightSci platform.

Effective July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using insightSci, available at insightsci.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

The Service is operated by insightSci Tecnologia e Inteligencia Cientifica Ltda., a Brazilian limited liability company headquartered in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil.

These Terms apply to individual researchers and to users acting on behalf of an institution.

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for people aged 18 or older. By using insightSci, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

If you use insightSci on behalf of an institution, you represent that you are authorised to bind that institution to these Terms.

3. Description of Service

insightSci is a cloud-based SaaS science mapping and bibliometric intelligence platform. It supports semantic searches across a global scholarly index powered by OpenAlex, scientific production analysis by country, institution, author, journal and topic, personal reference libraries, AI-assisted literature reviews when enabled by plan, and dataset/reference exports in CSV, RIS and BibTeX.

The Service is built on Research Mapping Intelligence methodology, derived from peer-reviewed research published in Scientometrics (2022), MethodsX (2023), and Studies in English Language Teaching (2025).

4. Subscription Plans and Usage

Freemium provides free access with usage limits, including up to 1,000 records per query and 5 queries per day, without AI generation.

Premium Researcher, Lab / Group and Institutional plans may include extended limits, AI Literature Review generation, shared pools, multi-user access, advanced analytics, billing terms, onboarding and support.

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually. Domestic payments may be processed by ASAAS through PIX, boleto bancario or credit card. International payments may be processed by Stripe.

You may cancel a paid subscription from account settings or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle unless applicable law requires otherwise.

5. AI-Generated Content

AI Literature Review content is generated from references you select and objectives you define. It is a draft and must be reviewed, verified and edited by you before use.

AI output does not replace scholarly judgement, methodological review, citation verification or institutional research ethics requirements.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not use insightSci for unlawful purposes, share credentials, attempt to circumvent usage limits or access controls, disrupt the platform, scrape the Service outside authorised exports, or upload content that infringes the rights of others.

We may suspend or terminate access if an account breaches these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or uses the Service in a way that may harm users, third parties or the platform.

7. Intellectual Property and OpenAlex Data

The platform, design, source code, methodology, brand and content, excluding user-generated content and open bibliographic records, are the property of insightSci Tecnologia e Inteligencia Cientifica Ltda.

OpenAlex bibliographic data is provided under open terms by OpenAlex and OurResearch. insightSci provides analytical tools over that data and does not claim ownership of the underlying bibliographic records.

Your research notes, concept tags, library collections and annotations remain your content. You grant insightSci a limited licence to store and process them solely to provide the Service.

8. Privacy and Data

Collection and use of personal data are governed by the Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to processing described there, including processing under LGPD and GDPR where applicable.

9. Disclaimers and Liability

The Service is provided as a research aid. We do not warrant that bibliographic data, citation counts, SJR matches, AI output or exports will be complete, error-free or suitable for every research purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, insightSci is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.

10. Governing Law, Changes and Contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Disputes shall be resolved by the courts of Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil, unless mandatory consumer protection law requires otherwise.

We may update these Terms from time to time and will notify users of material changes before they take effect.

Questions about these Terms may be sent to hello@insightsci.com. Product support may be sent to support@insightsci.com. Institutional inquiries may be sent to institutions@insightsci.com.
